5 Places to Visit in the Center of Bonito

Not only nature tours are available for the tourist in Bonito. In the city center there are many super cool places to learn about the local history and culture, besides restaurants, bars and ice cream shops.

We have made a selection of a few stores with an interesting work and a few tours for the nighttime in the city center, or even for daytime!

 

Taboa Fábrica de Encantos

Besides visiting the Taboa Bar, you can also make a tour by the Taboa factory, the most famous sugarcane liquor of the region. History, information about the process of mixing the beverage and the decoration of the bottle are showed during the visit. During the tour there are two workshops: clay artwork and taboa straw. The tour ends with the tasting of 09 varieties of the Taboa liquor and a visit to the shop, where you can purchase exclusive bottles of the liquor.

Boa Constrictor Project

Every night the knowledgeable Henrique presents his stand up about snakes! The project is an environmental education one, offering information about non venomous snakes. He tells many stories and demystyfies the fear many people have, alerting about the unnecessary killings of these animals that unbalance the ecosystem. At the end you can take pictures holding a snake!

Udu Cerâmica Artesanal

This factory and shop produces beautiful and exclusive pieces of ceramic inspired by the regional nature and it is molded by local artworkers. There are glasses, cups, vases, dishes, sculptures and adornments, among many other objects elaborated using the thousand years old technique of heating the ceramic to a high temperature. It is worth visiting the factory and its process of handmade production told with care by Sinéia Milano herself, associate and owner of Udu Cerâmica.

The factory is situated at Rua General Ozório, 611, also visit the store in the main street, open until 10p.m.

 

Casa da Memória Raída

Half museum, half store, the Casa da Memória Raída is located right in the center of Bonito and there you can see pictures, books, documentary, objects and many stories told by Fernandinha Reverdito, who have opened the doors of her house for over 5 years and has turned the space in a mix o happiness and culture, dedicated to protecting the memory of the regio and its people. It also has artwork from local artists handpicked by herself, and if you are lucky you can find Dona Ramona around there playing the blowing horn.

The store is open everyday from 5p.m. to 10:30p.m. at Rua 29 de maio, 913.

 

Casa do Vidro

"Glass is not garbage", that is the main motto of this factory and store that reutilizes glass to make beautiful decorative pieces in Bonito. Since January 2014 the factory unites sustainability and creativity to transform discarded glass into chandeliers, light fixtures, cups and many types of innovative decorations! It has become a point of selective material collecting for recycling, and walking around Bonito you will find many places that have joined the practice.
